We always park at the fish hatchery and start the easy trail along the Metolius River for just over 2.4 miles to the water falls from the side of the mountain, return back to the hatchery and then walk through the grounds to see the various sizes of fish in the outdoor tanks. This time we got to talk with... More

If you have children, visiting the fish hatchery is a must. Buy fish food and watch the fish jump to get it. A special place.

This hatchery had the usually "little fish" concrete pools, but my favorite part was the open pond where the "escapees" lived. Although we didn't see any this time, my friend said there were usually eagles in the surrounding trees, watching for lunch. Beautiful drive out to the hatchery. On the banks of the gorgeous Metolius river, this hatchery is attractive, informative, and in one of the best nature settings in the pacific northwest.

Parking lot was small so parking was at a premium but there were nice restroom facilities. Take a quick walk around the "lake" area to see all of the amazing trout. Then take a hike along the Metolius River for views of the beautiful blue/green water!

So neat seeing all the fish. They come in all sizes and a blast to feed them too. Would recommend this just for the scenery as the river took my breath away.

We showed up after their office was closed so we didn't get to do a tour or anything but we got to walk around and read about it on our own. It amazed me how big it is and how beautiful it was. Lots of info on how the hatchery works. I think we spent about an hour there just... More
