It's an odd structure, a stone octagon in "German art nouveau" style.

So the vista house has some gorgeous views. It's a perfectly named attraction. BUT There is no way around it-the place is small, doesn't take much to make it too crowded and there are other places nearby that offer comparable views...in fact there is a...More

August 23, 2017 - We drove down the Oregon Trail (Route 30) from Portland to get more scenic views than driving down the expressway. After awhile, we made our way to the Vista House, which has stood since 1917. Vista House is a museum at...More

Stopped here after Multnomah Falls. The house itself was closed but the views of the valley were great and worth at least a few minutes to look around. The old highway getting to the house is fairly narrow in spots and the parking area I...More

Do it! Get up there! Even though it was hazy from the smoke from the fires, the view was wonderful. The Vista House 'story' is interesting. So glad previous generations had the foresight and generosity to create beautiful spaces that we can enjoy today.

This is not a road to be afraid of. It curves gently as it elevates. Go slowly and enjoy the view.
