If you want to see whales from the shore, go to the Whale Watching Center. We spent several hours watching 5-6 whales swim and dive. What a marvelous experience! I went whale watching in Tofino, BC and though I'd die from seasickness. I saw more...More

incredible experience - had a seat on the small boat (6 passengers) - great views. Lots of pictures iphone was good enough. whales got very close to the boat.

Visited the Depoe Bay whale center for a few hours. We saw numerous whales and seals. One whale came within a few hundred feet of the center.

Great place to learn about whales, especially if you are traveling with kids! They have lots of "learning" opportunities. This is part of Oregon State Parks so the staff knows their stuff. This is not a commercial tourist trap. I was very impressed.

yes, Get there extra early and you will have plenty of parking. You can walk the street and get something hot to drink
