Historic track, with a long history of world class athletes who ran here

This is one of the great tracks in the United States--a few years ago, at the Prefontaine Classic, we witnessed the record time for the fastest mile ever run on U.S. soil. If you're a jogger and your're visiting Eugene, run by this track in the morning because sometimes the gates are open and you can run where the likes... More

U of O's Hayward Field, throughout its 98 years of existence has hosted many major events like NCAA, Olympic Trials, Prefontaine Classics and a first for the US, the International Track and Field Championships slated for 2021. This cozy, historic field, surrounded by the hills of Eugene, is well equipped for both competition and TV broadcasting. Shuttles deliver spectators from... More

I had never been to a track and field meet before moving to Eugene. Hayward Field is one of the most iconic sports viewing places in the world. It hosts the Prefontaine Classic for the Diamond League, in the same company as London, Dubai, and other very well known places. Small town Eugene hosted the Olympic Trials in 2012 and... More

The mecca of U.S. track and field. A bucket list place to visit if you enjoy track and field. Eugene is a great college town with plenty of places to eat and visit.

Nothing compares with world class Hayward Field in the world of Track and Field. Hats off to Coach Vin Lanana for attracting world class meets to Hayward Field and of course to Phil Knight for the constant improvements to our beloved Hayward. I was a UO college student and at Hayward Field the night of Pre's last meet. One still... More

Ok, I am bias since I have been living in Oregon for 15 years. However, this track is so good and you can feel the amount of history which has unfolded all around by just being in proximity to this field. I came in on a day with no race. Just running in UofO. And running by this Field made... More

We have seen many of the top stars in track and field at Hayward Field as they all recognize the significance of this venue and its historic personages, such as Bill Bowman and Steve Prefontaine, and want to compete here. The magic of the locations seems to boost everyone's performances and many personal bests and new records are achieved here.... More

So exciting to find out during our visit was All-Comers night at Hayward Field. My husband and sons were able to take part and run on the track. All three are runners and have done cross country in high school. The organizers were very helpful and got them signed up quickly. It was a blast to watch them run on... More
