Spencer Butte is a nice hike in south Eugene that gives you a 360 degree view of the area. There is a decent sized parking lot as well as port-a-potties at the trailhead. I did the steep trail on the way up, which involved a...More

I was only in Eugene for a day and decided to hike up Spencer Butte. I live in FL so it was a bit of an unlikely hiker for this kind of terrain but never the less, myself and my boyfriend chose the "difficult" route....More

We went up the shorter, difficult trail. It's steep, don't take without good hiking shoes and water. Great 360 views from the top! We took the longer, we'll-maintained trail down.

Popular trail that winds through lichen adorned Douglas Fir forest. Cold within the forest, quite warm once one gets beyond the forest and close to the summit. Great views.

We've enjoyed hiking part or all of this trail and each time it is a pleasure. Whether we walk or jog it, we are refreshed and appreciate the time in nature this trail provides. It is close to town which is a bonus.
