Spencer Butte is a nice hike in south Eugene that gives you a 360 degree view of the area. There is a decent sized parking lot as well as port-a-potties at the trailhead. I did the steep trail on the way up, which involved a...More

We went up the shorter, difficult trail. It's steep, don't take without good hiking shoes and water. Great 360 views from the top! We took the longer, we'll-maintained trail down.

Popular trail that winds through lichen adorned Douglas Fir forest. Cold within the forest, quite warm once one gets beyond the forest and close to the summit. Great views.

I'd climbed Spencer Butte years ago while growing up in Eugene and decided, on a whim, after dinner, to see if I could make it to the top while in town to attend my 55th high school reunion. I knew that, since I'd climbed Spencer...More
