I volunteered for a field trip with my daughter's third grade class. They split us into groups of 4 or 5 students plus a chaperone for each group. They lead us on a tour of the museum with an amazing volunteer who walked through the galleries and interpreted the art and allowing the kids to make their own interpretations. The... More

So glad we took the time to explore this lovely Art Museum. It offers a nice variety and was a fantastic thing to do on a rainy day. Is fun to walk around the campus and enjoy the gorgeous trees.

It was nice. Very quiet. They have interactive packs for older kids but I would not take young children here.

Lovely museum that is free for students. It is such a great place to just walk around and enjoy some art on a rainy afternoon.

Wonderful Asian galleries. We parked on the street and walked around campus before touring the museum. It was a great change of pace from hiking!

So the basic display is great, but it's the traveling exhibits that we look for...the story of underground comics, funny thread in Res Morgan recently along these lines...learned a lot! But you have to check the web to see what's there as this rotates.

The galleries, on the second floor, have a little bit of this and a little bit of that - a small selection of European paintings, a smaller selection of modern American art, some Japanese, Chinese, and Korean art. Each area has at least one outstanding work. I particularly liked the fine Russian lacquerware, several prints by American artists working in... More

Not a giant collection of Asian art--- but what you see from Japan, Korea, and China is very fine. The American collection is good and a bonus is the tax laws that allow new owners of art purchased overseas to exhibit their works temporarily in Oregon and get major tax breaks: Rubens, Dubuffet and Hockney currently exhibited. There is a... More

Because I like visiting galleries and museums, I visited the Museum at the University expecting to pop in for half an hour. Three hours later I left, amazed at the quality and breadth of the art collection and the Chinese and other Asian artifacts. I was particularly taken with the exhibition of selected children's work, based on the theme "The... More
