There are many hikes to get to where we were but the main trail head is literally right across hwy101. Easy 1/2 mile hike down to the beach.

Located about 11 miles North of Florence on Hwy 101 is the Hobbit hiking trail. I have been here several times. It's a great place to hike and unwind. It's at least an hours hike depending on how far you walk. Beautiful, quiet, sunny location.

This is one of the coolest hikes in the area! It's easy and short and feels enchanted with the lush greenness of the vegetation and the strangely bent trees. It leads to a beautiful beach with amazing views. You want to do this hike!

It may be easy to zip past the small roadside parking area for the trail, but this is well worth the effort to find. A beautiful walk through the trees and rhododendrons takes to you an almost-empty beach. If you're there at low tide, there...More

Trailhead #93. You can google map Hobbit Beach Trailhead and it will take you there. This trailhead isn't hard to find and is a must if you are in the area! Definitely worth the time and effort and it's a short half mile hike through...More

The entrance is easy to miss. DO NOT FOLLOW THE GPS! It took me to a campground which is where the trail originally begins but there is no parking unless you are camping and have a camp spot. I added pictures of what the entrance...More

A little hard to find. Inbetween the sea lion caves and campground. Great beach at the end. Had young kids, going down was fine but the way back was a little harder for our youngest.

A really cool trail, about half a mile down a hill (which means the hike back up to parking area is uphill). Well worth the minimal effort. You park in an non-descript parking lot on the side of 101 about half a mile after the...More

This is an easy walk if you are okay with a bit of an incline. Lots of roots to maneuver around but quite easy if you take your time. Very short little hike/walk. So beautiful in the middle, you would never guess the highway is...More

Physical activity: Moderate. You'll go downwards from the road to the beach, and then hike back up on your return. The distance you cover is doable even for people who don't see themselves as fit or athletic, provided you are comfortable with your footing on...More

Where is the Hobbit Trail actually located at? I have been trying to find the trail, but keep missing in on 101 - is there a mile marker close to the trail head?

Hi everyone. Is it safe to go to the Hobbit Trail in mid-May? I heard that it is bear season, but not sure if it affects that area? Thank you.
