This was a nice holiday activity for our family. I wish the website had more information. We did not know if the cars would be open or heated. We wandered about the train yard and tracks for a while looking for the station before someone in a train car called us over. 1)Little children can ride for free if they... More

We paid for tickets months in advance for the Fall Splendor tour and had come from Tennessee to participate. In an attempt to get an address for the train station the day before our trip, we stumbled across complaints on a Facebook page about the trips all being cancelled due to track maintenance issues. Our multiple attempts to contact ANYONE... More

We booked from the UK to be sure of a reservation but since this was after Labor Day it probably wasn't necessary but it ensured that we chose a day powered by steam. We had a nice welcome from the volunteers and were able to have a good discussion about its origins and future plans. Brilliant ride along the coast... More

We took a long excursion on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. This is the remaining historic rail line that crossed the coast range and still runs passenger excursions between Wheeler, Rockaway and Garibaldi. It runs right up the coast line with up close views of the bays, inlets, rivers and ragged coast with stops in the small towns long enough... More

As we were travelling thru Rockaway, OR, we saw this steam train and took a chance. We managed to get the last tickets before departure, and what a hoot! This train ride is great for any age.

Lovely steam train ride in nice location with many ocean and lagoon views. Friendly staff gave great info on restaurants and shopping. Many vintage engines to see.

Just happened to see as we were driving by and decided to stop and see the trains. If you like trains you will like this little area with a park and playground and where you take take a very short train ride to Rockaway Beach.

Ok full disclosure...I am a lover of trains, especially steam trains, so there. You can stop reading now because I become effusive when talking about them. Now this particular train leaving Garibaldi Oregon journeys North to Rockaway Beach about a half hour away. Hangs out at Rockaway for about 30 minutes then reverses back to Garibaldi. 3 Trips a day... More

If you like riding old trains along a mostly scenic route, this would be a good way to spend an hour and a half. You get a 30 minute ride from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach, 30 minutes at Rockaway Beach to stand in line for public restrooms, and a 30 minute ride back to Garibaldi along the same route. Our... Travelling in a group of 4 we did the trip on a Thursday and met a gentleman in railroad pants where the train comes in from Rockaway Beach. Surprisingly, he works on the train and on his day off had a friend coming in with grandchildren to make the trip. He was most ready to share experience of the train... More
