We stopped by the Richardson Rock Ranch on our way out to Brasada. We got there just as they were started to shut down road access. Even though the Ranch Shop stays open until 5pm, it is important to remember that they don't let people go out digging after 3pm. Also, if you plan on having your rocks cut, you... More

What a place--if you like rocks even a little bit, you have to go there! This is an excellent place to help kids learn about geology and rocks, but as an adult, I learned a lot as well and had lots of fun. You drive down a dusty road onto the ranch property. This is a working family cattle ranch... More

This was our first time to Richardson's. We had our grandson with us so went to the bed we were told was the easiest. We got about 10 tennis ball size rocks and were quite pleased! Our grandson had a good time and it was easy for him also only being 4 years old.

Its amazing as you drive into the ranch its all rolling hills after you sign in then start heading up to the rock beds, you take a left and you discover really cool rock... More

We took a long road day trip to return after taking our boys here 20 years ago. Do you ever hav e a great memory of a place or experience shattered when you go back again, expecting a repeat and it doesn't happen? That was our experience here. Great opportunity here to dig your own thunder eggs out of the... More

My 11 year old and son visited to look for thunder eggs and jasper. They have a huge selection of rough rock all around the shop. Rocks from all over the world probably close to an acre. The shop has lots of polished rocks and thunder eggs. I thought the staff was pleasant and helpful. They explained the dig sites... More

If you're interested in rocks or fancy yourself a rock hound, then this is the place for you! Not far from town, but a million miles away, we weren't sure we were in the right place but the signs kept assuring us. They have EVERY kind of rock! Fun pet peacocks and a couple of emus too! We didn't do... More

We spent half a day digging and exploring for geodes at the ranch. We checked in at the office, they gave us picks and buckets and a map where you could possibly find geodes over their six thousand acre ranch. We thought we would have a hard time finding them, but we found dozens, after sorting the larger ones we... More

We have driven by the sign for years. Today we pulled in. I had no idea how popular Rock Hounding is now. They have rocks from around the world plus the local rocks you can hunt for.
