I can see why this area is so interesting to people. I would definitely recommend coming here at sunrise or sunset for the best views. There's so much mystery and enchantment surrounding the history of the beach here.

High tide has spectacular spray and low tide gives you the opportunity to go down into the 'punchbowl' and explore the beach/ rocks there

Rather interesting geologic formation - most spectacular at high tide. Great ocean views and access to the giant beach (popular with local surfers). Nice grassy picnic area and paved foot trails by the small parking lot.

The "punchbowl" is a really neat natural rock formation that has great water spouts coming out of it at the right tides. We visited at a time when it was not very active, but it was still pretty. We also saw whales off the coast.

When other reviews warned of windy, they had no idea. A mild breeze in town was uncomfortable there and cool! BUT lots of seal activity (or non activity in this case as they were sunning). also saw a whale off the coast. Gorgeous views.

The view from the parking area is so-so. If you find your way to the trail leading down however, this area has wonderful tidepools and wildlife.

Well worth the stop when it is high tide. The punch bowl is unique and beautiful. Great to see at low tide but not as dramatic.

Devil's Punchbowl is very interesting and worth seeing, The views from the top are wonderful - seeing dozens of windsurfers and beautiful beaches was well worth it.....

Make sure you put it in your GPS as Devil's Punchbowl State Natural Area. Watch for the sign. It looks like a regular side street but keep going. It is at the end of the street. You will pass the picnic area, restrooms... More
