Went by boat up to the falls. Incredibly magical and beautiful. Mother Nature at one of it best. On the boat trip up so many fishermen catching salmon. Make time to see the falls.

It is a must see for locals and visitors alike. BUT, the best way to see it is from a boat below the falls. To totally experience the enormity and grandeur of the falls, on the river is the best. You can also see sea...More

I drive/ride by here all the time and depending upon how much rain we've recently had the Falls might be very tall or I've seen it where there are no Falls because the Willamette River is so swollen. There is a nice turnout on Hwy...More

Enjoyed the scenic panorama without the crowds. Amazing to see such a wide waterfall. Usually looking for the tall ones.

The history of the evolution of this area and the hydroelectric plants for the mill is on exhibit in the Clackamas county museum. So fascinating to stand and look down and be able to feel the power generated by the swirling water.

Just amazing to see, the Willamette River Falls over giant rocks spread all the way across the river and at the bottom 100 years ago, they built a mill, used the water to power it. At this site across the river they also built locks...More

Not much to do other than look. Easy pull off and view. Best time is when the river is high and a lot of water is flowing. Pull off on I205 North for a East view and Hwy 99E for a West view.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Is it worth the 3-hour bustrip (return) from Portland to the Falls and how long should I allocate to be there? I plan going very early in the morning and returning before lunchtime. I shall be in Portland in mid-December. Thanks

I would not go just for the falls. If you want a local experience and do the elevator, short hike, museum and then lunch in downtown maybe but in December it might be less than perfect weather
