I kind of liked how they are organized by topic. It made my search a lot easier. I also really enjoyed the employee's picks and and sale labels dispersed among the shelves. It drew my eye to books and authors I normally pass by.

I love book stores and miss being able to go in and peruse the aisles for something good to read and crack open a book with some coffee. I'm glad this book store has managed to stay in business. However, it is much to big,...More

Even if you have given up the printed page for the Kindle, you still must visit the rare book collection at Powells. Some are hundreds of years old and valued at thousands of dollars. You will be amazed at the titles and authors staring out...More

I could spend hours here finding years worth of reading. Suprised by the fair prices on books as well. Only bummer is there really isn't much seating to relax and browse in

Support local book stores! Powell's was a great spot to visit in Portland. How do you not just buy a book or two? Worth visiting when in town.

While on a weekend vacation to downtown Portland my family stopped in the famed Powell City Books. It's a gigantic bookstore with 3 or 4 floors of books... anything you can imagine. Lots of people inside browsing and buying books. My son got a few...More

They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what... More
