I was looking for a book that had been printed quite a few years ago. Went to Powell's to see if they had it. They didn't have a new copy but they had a used one at a location across town. They sent it to the location near me, I had it the next day!

In a nutshell, if it is in print ... they are likely to have it ... If they don't ... they will get it! and the atmosphere is what you would expect in Portland ... cool but not to cool

I love books, I love being around them, seeing them and even more so, reading them. Powell's is definitely one of the best spots to do all of the above. Head on in, even if you don't know what you're looking for. Get lost in the myriad of rooms, grab something that stands out (yes, judge by cover) then head... More

Every time we've visited Powell's City of Books, it's been an adventure and fun. It is impossible to see the whole store in one visit unless you spend most of the day there. They have every book I've ever looked for and a lot more that i never knew existed.

Great store for wandering and finding almost any book you'd be interested in. Pay attention to the color coding - it will help keep you from getting lost amongst the books.

I have been visiting Powell's for close to 30 years. I have visited some of the great bookstores of the world, several now sadly, out of business. There is virtually no subject on which you can not find a related book. The mixing of new and used volumes on the same shelves provides options and the opportunity to obtain otherwise... More

Shelves upon shelves of books. Even if you're not a book lover like me, you'll appreciate this city within a city.

This place is huge and amazing. So many books from best sellers to odd titles. Lots of places to sit and review material. Lots of things other than books like socks, pictures, cards, games etcs... The only slightly negative was the parking, but even that wasn't bad if you don't mind walking a couple blocks. The many many many homeless... More

Nice, big book store. Wish they carried DVDs too but anyways. My little one went crazy over the selection 😬. I'd definitely visit this place again and again. 💕🙌🏽😍
