If you live in Seattle, don't go to SAM, go to PAM!!

Wonderful museum with stunning modern wing. They hold other events in a public wing and have an amazing gift shop as well. Don't miss it!

Went to see the painting "My Wife's Lovers" by Carl Kahler. This is the painting with 42 cats in it. The painting is huge and awesome. My favorite part of the visit. Lots of master painters in this museum but I thought the price of admission was way too high.

....wonderful collections of native and northwest Indian art and cultural artifacts.....love the collection of contemporary art and esp the NW artists. Also very good collection of Asian and European artists, prints and photographs. Spend at least 4 hours or all day with a stop to their coffee shop with a variety of snacks, lunch items, drinks, all sourced locally. Admission... More

This was an excellent way to spend a rainy afternoon in Portland. There were many varied collections (Native, Asian, Modern, etc.). I will admit, the building is a bit of a maze on some floors, but there is a map. One of the better museums.

With limited time I was able to momentarily decompress in this gem of an art museum. Just enough of many genres of art. I was delighted to listen to the docents teaching the local students about the NW Pacific indigenous art. (Tlinglit, Haida, Canadian first peoples, etc.) Best gift shop awarded here! Delightful little coffee nook. If you don't have... More

This art museum is well worth the price of admission with a wonderful offering of permanent pieces as well as exciting well thought out special exhibits. My only criticism is that the layout is convoluted and confusing even with a map. It's easy to miss entire exhibits and galleries. Take your time and be sure you see everything. The guides/guards/docents... More

It was a nice museum and there was a large and different selection of pieces. However there was really nothing notable. The Northwest Indian exhibit was the most interesting. It's a good place to spend a rainy afternoon.

This was our first visit to the museum. We were very impressed with the attentive, friendly staff. The Force of Nature and Falle Fruit exhibitions were our favorites. Fallen Fruit is unique - check it out!

My daughter and I love coming here and it is icing on the cake on top of all of the other things to do in downtown Portland. It is a kind of tradition for us to come to Portland for New Years, and we always get in free with the Bank of America first weekend pass. The temporary exhibits are... More
