Really enjoyed this tour, and hearing more about Portland’s sordid history. I appreciated our guides ability to hold space and be realistic about the racist, crappy history the city has, while also being able to inform us on how these things have happened over time, how the city has changed in the past year (or not) and how it might continue to change. If you’re looking for Instagram photos or where to eat/drink then this might not be the tour for you. But, if you want to know more about the history of portland (the good and the bad), then you’ll like this. I know we did!

Fabulous half-day trip to view five waterfalls, each incredible in its own right, and the spectacular Columbia River Gorge with the perfect viewing vista along the way high atop the mountain. Edwin was impressive with his knowledge and history of the area as well as Washington state and full of anecdotal stories as well. I highly recommend this tour!

I collect walking tours like most people collect postcards. I’ve been on countless walking tours around the world. I’ve never been on one that I didn’t like. I’d describe this one as being stuck with your self absorbed aunt at a family function, and politeness dictates you sit and nod your head until you find an escape. She couldn’t trip over herself enough to let us know all about her personal life and views. Look, I don’t want to know the guide’s political views, left, right, or anywhere on the spectrum, unless someone asks(no-one asked) And I appreciate knowing the dark historical aspects but there was not one positive thing said about the city, not one. The architectural portion consisted mainly of waving a dismissive hand up at a building, or wasting an incredible amount of time on things like a black electronic box that predicted weather…not sure because by that time I had long checked out.

Fabulous tour of the Columbia River Gorge near Portland. Multanomah Falls gets a lot of the fanfare, and it is VERY lovely, but our tour guide, Edwin Skaug, saved the best for last with Latourell Falls - a fantastic natural cathedral of geometric basalt rock carved by the waterfall, colored by iridescent lichens and moss. You can't tell from the roadway how amazing this waterfall is, you have to do the mild hike to the base of the falls. Horsetail Falls and Wahkeena Falls are also great - be prepared for a bit of an uphill climb to Wahkeena. The views of the Columbia River in all directions from the Vista House are beyond stunning. Edwin is a laid-back and amusing tour guide. He is full of good information, both historical and practical. COVID protocols observed in reason: masks were required in the van which only holds up to 9 tourists (we had 6 which was very comfortable), as well as in the restrooms and gift shops at Multanomah Falls, and Vista House, but not in the outdoor spaces. A half-day morning tour was the perfect amount of time for us as we were constricted by a schedule.

This was a fantastic tour of the waterfalls. Our guide had a TON of knowledge about portland and the Columbia river gorge so we learned alot of history. We saw five amazing waterfalls and even got close to a few of them! We also went to a breathtaking lookout point to end the day. The hikes werent too long or strenuous and the experience was more than worth it. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting portland!
