A lovely library where Beverly Cleary used to work. Or at least that's how I understand it. Didn't get to spend a lot of time here, but it's such a lovely building.

I appreciate how the county and city maintains this historic building, and houses a wealth of knowledge. It is inviting and peaceful. They staff is always kind and helpful.

I'm a Portland Native, but even though I've moved away, I still enjoy getting to visit the Central Library! There are story times for kids (check their website). The artwork, the stairs, the tree in the children's area, the 'free to use' spaces and little...More

Not only took out books on travel here but also found some "Lucky Day" books. Also went to a fantastic talk about the eclipse. Residents are lucky to have this library. Librarians incredibly helpful! Thank you all.

This library is historical and majestic and really gives knowledge proper respect. It is usually very quiet and the whole ambience is conducive to deep study or reflection. It's a magical library with multiple floors and marble pillars.

I love the old building and walking up the grand staircase to get to the various collections. The writers room is my personal sanctuary.

Like a lot of people, I stopped here to use the restroom (which was clean). It's a great old building, with high ceilings, tall windows, a skylight, information desks, computers, WiFi, and, of course, books.

Check out Portland's homeless problem up close and personal, especially during the winter months. This is a gem of a library - but it is usually crawling with those who have nowhere else to go.

A nice and easy place to brows. Located in the center of town and easy to find. It's also a good place to find free internet.

What a hidden gem in downtown Portland. This library is gorgeous! You enter and immediately see a winding staircase with a repurposed card catalog sitting at the base. The fiction books are in the room to the left and the Beverly Clearly Children's Room is...More
