Love seeing the elk and it seems they are always there. Magnificent animals. If you're lucky enough to travel with binoculars you'll always have a good view because often they are situated back near the forest and hard to see with the naked eye. Note, the photo is actually from a previous stop back in June of 2015. That time... More

We were staying nearby and saw elk at a distance so decided to stop and try to get a closer look. We weren't disappointed. Dawn and dusk are supposed to be the best time to see them but I don't like driving in the dark so we went for mid-afternoon and still saw some. They are magnificent, peaceful creatures. It... More

Worth the stop here if you'd like to see some Elk. Saw a whole bunch both times I've stopped. Just East of Reedsport.

It was very exciting to see so many elk present at this viewing area. It was right off the roadway and easy to get to.

The Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area is a great place to see these magnificent creatures. It is easily visible from highway 38 right after leaving Reedsport. One is able to see the elk in several different spots along the highway. There is also a viewing area where the elk can been seen quite often. It is also a great place... More

Called in whilst travelling down the 101 (about a 3 mile diversion). You can't miss it as it is right by the road. Our visit was mid afternoon and no Elk were clearly visible on first looking. However after a few minutes searching the middle distance we saw a several along the tree line. This was exciting as we had... More

My grandson's from Oklahoma were impressed with the elk being up close. All we had to do was pull to the side of the road to see them.

Flat, grassy area. Elk and tourists are separated by unobtrusive fencing. Nice quality viewing platforms and benches scattered around province locations from which to observe. One buck, several does, and several youngsters were in both families. Not very exciting as they are primarily grazing, but your best chance to see elk outside of a zoo.

We planned our trip to be here in the early evening. We watched a herd of about 30 elk until dusk. As we were leaving, 3 bulls appeared near the road. The viewing area is wonderful. There is a pull off area, plus viewing platforms and restrooms. An excellent stop to plan on your trip!
