Beautiful setting, interesting things to see. Easy climb up into the lookout tower. Never knew the place was there until yesterday.

Excellent history of the Tillamook Forest and the fierce fires that consumed the "burn" in the '30's and '40's. Great exhibits and an excellent video. Good story of the areas revival and the efforts the community took to regenerate the forest. Nice stop for a bit of a walk around, too. There are regular activities, especially during the summer, often... More

The Tillamook Forest Center has great access to the popular Wilson River. The forest center has a gift shop and maps/brochures; a fire tower; a photo and history center of the forest, river and cheese; a mini movie theater playing a 15 minute movie of the Tillamook Burn every half hour (which we didn't view); and scheduled activities for kids.... Wow, what an amazing place! First of all, it's free, which is insane considering the amount of info and recency of the exhibits. Really interactive and I think anyone from 1 to 101 would enjoy this place. Climb the look out tower if you can, and make sure you explore out back, going over the footbridge, and taking a hike... This is fun, and educational. Lots to do and see and learn about forests. The hands-on museum is great for all. It has a gift shop too. Make sure this is a stop on your HWY 6 journey.

I started my Oregon collection here. Great information in the gift shop; caps, jackets, buttons and maps to the entire state. Great tour...hands on play...even for the grownups...big trees!

On a beautiful day, this is a nice place to visit: a visitor's center with a gift shop featuring info about the area and displays about the Civilian Conservation Corps and the devastating forest fire in the area (and how they recovered), and a great place to take simple hikes in the forest. There's also river access. Dogs allowed on... More

Lots to do here - climb a fire lookout tower and go into the apartment at the top, attend lectures for kids, visit the hands-on museum, play in the Wilson River, and hike various trails and loops among lush green trees and understory. Definitely worth a day trip, especially if you have kids between 6 and 14. Happy travels!

Suspension bridge, tower, uncrowded nature walks along the river with fields of daisies, trumpet flowers, and ferns, plus educational. Worth it! Make sure to plan your trip to get the hike in before closing time. We ended up not seeing the water fall because we had to turn around to get back before they closed. Bonus tip - stop at... More
