We have been here multiple times as a family and we love coming here! There is so much to explore - multiple play areas with swing, sand/dirt pits with sit-on and use back-hoe-like toys to dig with, lakes, several long trails, a dam to look it over the lake, picnic areas and more!

PP&L Montour Preserve is a very quiet and beautiful retreat. The trails are well groomed and easy to walk on. The boat ramp is easily maneuvered.

Very nice park for paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. It also offers walking trails around the lake for the adventurous. Charcoal grills are available for cooking and pavilions can be rented for family or group affairs. The rest areas are nice and clean port potty type but are housed in concrete building with running water for hand washing. The... More

Great lake and spot to take a hike. There is a 5 mile hiking loop around the lake. Relatively flat. The lake is open to non-motorized boats and kayaks, so it stays peaceful. Birdwatching is always good - several bald eagles at the late and one of the better regional spots for birds of all kings.

Montour Preserve is a wonderful place to spend time and just relax. Sunrise , mid-day or sunset offer beautiful views of the landscape, lake and wild life. No time spent there is the wasted.

If you have a church group or cub scouts, girl scouts, or just yourselves, a trip to the Sugar Shack is worth your time. The lake is great for summer fun and ice fishing in the winter. There are hiking trails and lots of migrating ducks and geese, frequent the lake each spring and fall.

We travel about 35-40 minutes to Montour Preserve on average of once a month or so--always a great area whatever the season. The walking trails are well maintained throughout the varied forest land and around the lake, almost always see deer in the fields and in the wood land clearings, have also seen owls, hawks, and herons. The lake is... More
