We came here to learn more about the ships on the Great Lakes. To our surprised the ship USS Niagara was in port, so we were able to get on the ship and had a wonderful tour with the history of the ship.

This museum does a good job of providing background to the events/reasons for the war of 1812; at least when I was in school we didn't really discuss in any depth this conflict so I found the information worthwhile. However, the highlight is touring the...More

The Niagara was moored at the pier adjacent to the museum, and was a beautiful site on a foggy May afternoon. The ship is beautifully restored, a very interesting part of the museum tour. Very much recommended!

We went primarily to see the tall ship U.S. Niagara. The museum as a whole was interesting. The staff, exhibits and videos were all very informative. It was great to be able to take a tour of the ship.

I learned so much about the War of 1812. Easy-read exhibits and great videos to complement the display. The ship tour was an awesome bonus.

This place is modern, very clean, and a valuable way to increase your historical knowledge of naval history. The guides are professional and really know how to relate the history into a story easily understood by even the youngest kids. Loved the videos and mock...More

We slipped in only 30 minutes from closing and were not disappointed. A volunteer docent jumped up and took the kids outside to the boat. It was a frigid day so I stayed inside and took in the exhibits. Both the kids and I were...More

Hi, if it is in the Harbor, you can see the outside, but it travels a lot and is gone. Always check to see if it is there first.

We went before lunch and had the museum to ourselves. An hour or two should be plenty. We really enjoyed it!

I agree with Robby, at least 2 hours, if you want to see everything, take your time and spend 3. I would think the Diamond Tour would allow you enough time to take it all in. Enjoy!
