Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

This is the best one capitol we have ever visited. Holistically collection of old Architecture. We had a very helpful guide but knew all the answers. Each one was exquisite and almost impressive. The old art murals, portraits, sculpture, chandeliers all are excellent.

The Capitol Building is generally excellent, especially the underside of the dome, which is almost as impressive as the Capitol Dome at Washington, D.C. Our only complaint is the inadequate signage in the building. There are too few places where the respective floor is displayed...More

This a good stop to make if visiting the city. If able tag along on one of the guided tours. They schedule them about every half hour or so, from 0830 thru 4 PM. The guides offer nice little pieces of information throughout. Once done...More

This is, without a doubt the most extravagant Capitol I have ever seen. It is beautiful and the art work is beyond belief

It was built to impress, and it does. The guide was very knowledgeable about the local architecture and history as well as the kind of history that you don’t read in books.

Attended a politically-motivated rally here a few weeks ago. Big, stately building with plenty of space in front for same. Didn't actually enter the building, as legislators were on vacation.

Take the free tour of this beautiful building. It doesn't take long and it's worth it. Reserve in advance on their website.

I can’t speak for just going around on your own and visiting, because I got a guided tour. However, I was completely engrossed with the history and architecture. The murals are spellbinding. Try to get a guided tour like I had.

Truly a landmark and must see for the beauty inside and out that makes this building a great architectural marvel and an impressive place for the state's legislation to take place. Make sure to stand in the rotunda and look up.Truly impressive!

This is the most amazing capitol we have ever visited. We had a very helpful guide who knew all the answers. We visited the Rotunda, both Legislative chamber and the Supreme Court chamber. Each one was exquisite and almost outshined the last. The murals, portraits,...More
