- Ann C38 contributionsUnmatched customer serviceVisited from New York (where 2A is a foreign concept) and was impressed with the level of professionalism and courtesy extended by the staff here, especially Josh the range instructor. Josh took his time to explain safety precautions and provided encouragement when I was feeling unsure of myself. Being the only female on the range can be intimidating, but Josh went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and confident. Tried the Barrett bolt action rifle for the first time in 20 years, and it was a dream! Also tried a new handgun at Josh’s suggestion. Definitely planning on returning!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 June 2024
- Lauren G15 contributionsGreat experience from start to finish!I booked a VIP Experience package with Sunset Hill as a gift for my husband's 40th birthday. We had been before, just the two of us, and had such a great time I knew I wanted to make it part of his birthday celebrations! From start to finish it was an absolute top-notch experience. David, the coordinator for the VIP package was incredibly helpful, responsive, and understanding when we wound up having to reschedule at the last minute. They had a great selection of packages to choose from and lots of cool options in each weapon class for my our group to try out. The two instructors we worked with for our group were truly fantastic, super knowledgeable, really in-tuned with each of our group's interests and preferences and advised accordingly. We're already talking about doing it again later on this year, and the price of the VIP Packages are absolutely worth the value you get! I cannot recommend Sunset Hill enough!Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 23 July 2024
- Nomad7844901 contributionFun but expensive.Overall a good experience but expensive!!! Brandon the range officer was very nice and informative. There was an enormous amount of safety involved and appropriately so. $25 for a reservation, goggles, earplugs, each gun and number of rounds has a price, etc. It gets expensive fast. Bring your own goggles and ear plugs to save. We were told a price of $49 for one gun but charged $89 at the checkout. Double check all prices before you shoot. It is what it is just be aware it ain't cheap. They do have a good selection of guns and options and it is well run. We would do it again.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 August 2024
- Madison S1 contributionDo it!!!On a whim plans... when in the Poconos, but an absolute blast! Eric V. was our instructor and he was nonjudgemental about it being (most of our) first time shooting. He coherently advised ~each~ of us on shooting technique (the ear plugs really did their job), and joined us for pictures after the fact! He seemed to be very knowledgeable about the craft, giving us fun fact about guns used in the 2 world wars, etc. Would definitely stop again!Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 September 2024

30 bullets for $100 gone in less than 10 seconds. They didn’t show us the price until checkout and they still asked for tip. Also $15 per person for plastic eye protection and ear plugs. Wayy too overpriced

Ok I was complacent about writing a review but I must … Basically it’s a story of 2 John’s ! … We were a group of 7 … it was my nephews birthday so I wanted to take him to sunset because he’s never been to a range before … I have 2 ranges that are closer to my home but I’ve been to sunset before and had great experiences prior and I wanted to make it a good experience for my nephew … when we got there it was busy .. but Frank took care of us and was very helpful and attentive to us … we were assigned 2 RSO’s … Let’s start with Jon .A … Jon A was very informative, helpful and patient with us and he made our time there pleasant… for him I would go back and will request him if I decide to spend another $800 there …. Now the other RSO John was rude ,obnoxious and definitely had a napoleon complex … most of us are not avid gunslingers so he made us feel like we were so beneath him … he threatened to ban us ,yelled and obviously did not want to be with us …he said that he didn’t have time to teach us anything and that there was another group of 14 inside that he was waiting on … we had two bays … one for pistols and one for my shotgun and rifle … he was with us on the bay where we shot the shotgun and rifle … I told him that I just bought a gun for my wife and if he can take time and show her how to use it … he said no that you gotta pay for a class for that … he said it very rudely and we were immediately turned off … my shotgun was jamming due to the ammo I bought at sunset and he was pissed off about that … he also kept complaining to the supervisor there … I’ve been in the hospitality field for over 30 years and this by far was their worse experience I’ve had at any establishment…it took everything in my power to not react … finally I was so disgusted that I decided to pack up my rifle and shotgun and just shoot my pistols with Jon.a … again Jon A was amazing … and he earned my tip ! And I tip well … finally when the LIL John brung in his group of 14 that he was waiting for … he took the time to handle them correctly and had a different energy with them … maybe because that group was all white … never use the race card but that basically what it was with him …. Unprofessional and unfortunate…. I will take my $800 somewhere else … the young lady at the cashier asked us about our experience and I told her and she asked if we wanted to relay the message to the higher ups but again I didn’t want to make a scene so I left … however she was very apologetic and helpful … I hate that this happened but it’s life and we will move on… good luck to sunset …

I booked a V.I.P. session for my son and myself. I was required to leave a deposit, which I did. Deposit stated it was paid to Sunset Hill Shooting Range. When I went to check out I was told I owed more money because a third party charged a booking fee. This was not mentioned on the original agreement and the deposit stated that it was paid to the range with no mention of the third party.

This is a great place. It's my second time there. I'm from NYC and it takes me at least 2 hrs to get there and I don't mind. I love it. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I have little experience and the staff makes me feel there is no dumb question I can ask. They are so patient and give you tips on improving your technique. There are so many guns and rifles. I think you can find a few from each category and in every caliber. We fired a grenade launcher and a fully automatic machine gun! That was cool. How many people can say they did that? They also have skeet shooting. It can get crowded in nice weather so, I like that it's outdoors and you're breathing in fresh air. You can book the time you want so there isn't much waiting to go in.

Had the V.I.P. Experience for a bachelor party I hosted. That’s the option you want to take if you have a party of 5 or more. The instructors Autumn, Shane and Antonio were extremely safe and educated in more than just the guns. All other staff kept the experience rolling along smoothly so as to get us equipped and shooting as fast as possible and knew how to have fun while dealing with the viscosity of the situation. Also, the passion the instructors put into watching us shoot is comparable to none, eg.when Autumn grunted “get it” at us, made the blood flow faster and stronger before letting that shot out (no pun intended). Thrilling & exhilarating even for those in my group with little shooting experience. Will be visiting every time I’m in the area. Thank you Sunset Hill Shooting Range!!!!!!!!

Traveled here with a group of 8 and had a great time. Covid protocols were in place and the staff was very informative. Gun options were wide ranged and it was everything you would expect.
Only thing I wish were different was free range shooting which is what the others I've been to allow but with this one, you have a staff member that oversees you shoot and literally stands with you. I understand it though.

Visiting in town and decided to booked a lane the day prior to go to the range in the morning. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to rush my dog to the emergency vet an hour away the morning I booked for. I had a 10:30 am appointment and called promptly at 10 am , when they opened, to see if I can reschedule. They were completely unhelpful. I was told that I would lose my deposit if I could not come today. I explained my situation and got no where. I asked if I could switch the deposit to the next day because I still wanted to go and was told no. I asked to speak with a manager and was told the manager and general manager were too busy to talk to me and they would try to call me the next day. The person Justin, I spoke to on the phone, was uneducated on the facility and how things work. I told them that I was from out of town and was leaving the next day and needed to speak with someone today. Still got no where. After finally getting a call back (over 24 hours later) I found out that walk-ins did not need to give a deposit and I could go anytime. That is not what I was told by Justin when I spoke to him the day prior. Basically they have no courtesy for emergency circumstances and horrible customer service! Very rude and unprofessional!! Train your employees better.

What is the approximate price range of your activity for 1-2 hours?
Written 29 December 2017
It depends on the type of guns you choose and the amount of rounds you purchase for each gun. You also need to pay a base fee and for the rental of the ear protectors. We were 4 people and chose 2 guns each with the minimum number of rounds for each gun. They give you a menu to choose from so there are no surprises when it comes time to pay. We were there for about an hour and a half. We paid about $100 for everything. It was well worth it. The instructor was great and I felt very safe.

Hi we're from the uk and would really like to experience this when we go to New York in December. Are there any other travel routes other than hiring a car that you are aware of?
Thanks
Written 28 February 2017
I don't think there's other way. Since the site is pretty remote, there's no public transportation around that I saw.
Written 28 February 2017
We'd love to try this when we visit the US in October! Are UK citizens allowed? Thank you
Written 23 August 2016
Sure ! But don't try to take the country back, you're outnumbered.
Your passports will be fine for valid ID. Enjoy :)

I don't believe so. I went up there and stayed at a hotel for 2 nights and it was about a 7 minute drive to the range on the back roads. There are buses that will get you to the hotels up there but then you would probably need to take a taxi the rest of the way

Can husband and I bring own firearms and ammo for handguns and can we bring own skeet and shotgun? How long are sessions and price.
Written 28 June 2016
If you want to bring your own firearms you will be charged for a 1 year membership (around $30) and you will then be ask to show that you are proficient (safe) with whatever you bring. They divide firearms into the 3 basic classes, pistols (handguns), rifles & shotguns, and they will ask that you show proficiency in each class you would like to shoot.
As for bringing your own skeet (clay pigeons), I don't know why you would bother, their prices are very reasonable for skeet and they would most likely prefer that only their birds are launched from their equipment.
As Laura C stated, if you have additional questions it would be best to call.
