The entire forest park would take you at least 3 hours to complete. It is recommended to buy the buggy ride tickets unless you have good energy to climb the mountain. It has practically 3 stations where the highest is a forest nature walk where you will see lots of monkeys and some tree ropes climbing for the younger ones. Then there is the middle station where you will visit their tribal houses and also tribal dance performances which to me is entertaining. These top two stations would probably takes you about 2+ hours minimum with the buggy ride to ferry you from station to station.

The final station is actually the peacock flying performance which has 2 shows being 5.00pm is the last provided there is no rain which the show will be cancelled. Watch the weather forecast. There are hundreds of peacocks from the forest trees at the hill over the lake to the sandy beach where they are being fed. The whole show is about 20 minutes.

The buggy ride tickets can be a bit confusing with 6 small perforated coupons. 3 for going up and 3 for coming down which the driver will tear off for each ride.

This is a major tourist attraction, but is well managed so it is pleasant to walk through the forest on a path that has a woven bamboo covering so mud is not a problem even in the rainy season. This is claimed to be "virgin forest" but it is certainly not that; but many large trees remain and the information signs were ok. At 18:00, over a hundred peacocks flew from the hillside and over the lake as part of a nice celebration of these colorful pheasants; unfortunately, a driving rainstorm followed the birds, so the celebration was abbreviated. We had a great dinner, with wonderful dancing from several of the ethnic groups found in this part of Yunnan.

Besides a very large peacock show where they swoop down into a field, there is also a cute song & dance show up at the top that they put on.
If you don't speak Chinese, I imagine it's quite difficult to know what's going on. In fact, difficult to even get around.
If you have a Chinese speaker with you, the it can be a relaxing morning/afternoon

it rained slightly and they cancelled the bird shows. we wandered around the park waiting for the rain to stop. there was nothing special here. the hilltribe village was not authentic. it was rather a touristy park with tribal exhibition. the forest in the area was natural and fine. it's probably the last piece of reserved forest before the rubber plantation occupy it all.

Couldn't really get a read on this theme park. Upon entering, you are able to see the peacock's flying across the pond, but it is no more exciting than seeing geese fly over a city lake. The peacocks here do not fan their tails either. There is also a reconstructed Aini ethnic minority house, which is not worth the climb, and is like any other display house in Yunnan. Finally, a caged animal circus performance concludes most tours, and for Americans like me, it's just depressing. The trainers look even more tired and depressed than the animals, but hey, it's China, and if it seems to please the crowd and bring in a few extra bucks, it will continue to be shown.

Peacock garden in just a magic one...Very good organization, fabulous nature, very nice hotel and activities. The tropical forest is something everyone must see and go around. The nature is combined with the human work in a perfect way and balance. The peacock show (flying from one side of the lake to the other) is also something very special. Also the working staff are very kind and helpful. This is something that cannot be forgotten...
