Very interesting and lots of local culture. It is sadly been ruined by the over development of the Wanda Chinese Company. A lot of unsightly development with a lot of low quality merchants.

This is a beautiful place where you can enjoy scenic nature, tribal history and culture, delicious Thai and local food. There is a specialty local cuisine where fish is cooked in pressured stone wok - observe the unique way to clean the stone wok. When the dish is cooked, its soup should be tasted first for its freshness of fish... More

We have just spent 9 days at the Hilton here (an OK resort hotel with very friendly staff) and would suggest the following places to visit. I am a 60 year old Brit, living in China and well travelled. Must see - Daixiu Show, Tropical Botanical Gardens Recommended - Dai Village, Rubber dinghy trip on the Mekong, Gaozhuang (evening market),... More

We flew from Kunming to Xishuangbanna. Spent two days there before heading out to Luang Namtha, Laos. We stayed at the old town. Kinda nice laid back place. A lot of restaurants and cafes, we also like the night market. Food is really good, a little bit pricey but you are in a tourist area so kind of expecting it.... More

I spent over a week in Xishuangbanna, having first visited in 1984 and again about 15 years ago. Infrastructure development has been amazing, rubber plantations now cover about 20% of the land, but it also has retained some impressive natural areas. This is the last part of China that still has significant numbers of elephants, and this species has become... More

The first impression anyone been to Jinghong would be surprised that most of the buildings resemble the design of Thai temple. Well, the city itself are made of majority of Dai Tribe and they are actually from Thailand long long time ago. The language spoken here are Mandarin with a very unique accent of Yunnan influence and also Thai... Communication... More

Xishuangbanna is at the very south-west border of China. As a consequence, what you can find here is a mixture of architectural styles and cultures from Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Chinese ethnic minorities.

Jonghong is a very relaxed, laid-back city. The night market offeres delicious food (we tried only the veggie dishes though...).

The room is fair, and average services. The place is good for senior citizens (no elevator, it is only three floors). If you require a wheelchair, please phone the hotel to reserve the room which located at ground level. The hotel does not have refrigerator in the room.
