We did stay a week in Xishuangbanna in April 2017. We came for the water festival and had a great time! After that we did some trips around the area and loved the tropical and laid back atmosphere of the region.

If nothing else Xishuangbanna ofers a chance to warm up if you've been in more northern parts of China in March as I had. The weather was great, around 30 C everyday. The place is great too and well worth a visit. Home of the...More

Xishuangbanna with the city of Jinghong is the Autonomous Administrative Area of the Dai People in China and reflects their culture, faith and lifestyle which resemble those of south-east Asia, mainly Thailand. The hilly landscape is dotted with rural villages and towns and all is...More

I really enjoyed my short stay here. The town is small and is really accessible on foot if you can walk a lot. It really gave a taste of Northern Thailand without having to go there. It was a quiet town, with a few decent...More

Very interesting and lots of local culture. It is sadly been ruined by the over development of the Wanda Chinese Company. A lot of unsightly development with a lot of low quality merchants.

I spent over a week in Xishuangbanna, having first visited in 1984 and again about 15 years ago. Infrastructure development has been amazing, rubber plantations now cover about 20% of the land, but it also has retained some impressive natural areas. This is the last...More

The first impression anyone been to Jinghong would be surprised that most of the buildings resemble the design of Thai temple. Well, the city itself are made of majority of Dai Tribe and they are actually from Thailand long long time ago. The language spoken...More
