Let's just say that if you're going to take your boat up or down the flight, you'll need to be quite fit - there's a LOT of locks to open! Nice cafe two-thirds of the way up. Stunning views up & down the flight and across to Roundway Hill

On a clear day this is a good, easy walk. The return walk would be about 5 kms and you can punctuate the stroll by visiting the cafe alongside the Canal. Historically this is a magnificent piece of engineering and it is a tribute to all involved that the series of locks has been reinstated. Well worth a visit if you... More

Been meaning to go and see these for years, yesterday we walked from the Devizes C&CC Site to Devizes via the locks and they didn't disappoint. Well worth a visit if you enjoy see engineering at it's best.

there is a great difference between a waterway in the off-season, and that in the tourist season we could say. It appears at the moment that the canal is closed to traffic. You can tell that because people have put large plastic sacks over the raise and lower mechanism. It is a little bit of a pity because it's always... More

We visited the locks while house-sitting in the nearby village of Rowde. It was a cold, frosty but sunny morning and there were plenty of other visitors at this part of the canal. Small cafe and a few volunteers explaining the history of the locks and how they are funded. Good place for dog walking

Great walk following the course of this flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon canal. Always lots of wildlife to see as well as the barges.
