Quick walk in the wilds

Great spot to get out and see the countryside. Wished we had more time to wander the area. Makes a change from shopping!

Quiet pretty spot. Popular with dog walkers.. Well worth a visit of a hour or so. Lovely for a quiet sit by the river assuming only a few dogs!

Lovely walk connecting The Ridgeway to the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath. Super nice guide: Peter who was very prompt and informative on walks in the area. He led us from Marlborough (great town!) to Wootton Rivers (a tiny, charming village) through the Savernake Forest. We had a wonderful day.

My trip to wiltshire was enhanced by some glorious weather. Wow what countryside !! The views were spectacular we could see for miles. Would definitely recommend a trip to " heavens gate " where there are the most fantastic views stretching for miles. Also as well as beautiful walks there are some imaginative sculptures.

A beautiful walk in May surrounding this historic village. Around 5.5 miles along well signposted footpaths, country lanes and along the Kennet and Avon canal. Nice pub on the way too. Glorious views.

We found the White Horse Trail , a wonderful and easy to follow 7 mile walk, and had a booklet (purchased from Trowbridge tourist information) with many walking trails well described. Wonderful walking country and many circular walks incorporating the Kennett and Avon Canal.

Walking the Ridgeway Trail from Avebury to Ivinghoe Beacon is more than just a stroll in the woods or a trip to the coffee house for a mug. The scenic aspects are spectacular, the trail is clean, except in the early spring, and the variety of vegetation plus the historic sites (castles, barrows, and chalk carvings, etc.) offer a bounty... Wiltshire is a beautiful county, with magnificent walks. There are stone circles, white horses, many historical places of interest, far reaching views over rolling hills. Savernake Forest is a lovely place to visit for a picnic, canals, rivers, lakes, everything you could wish for.

Have done some of the 70 mile or so white horse trail with a friend whilst in training for the 5 Peaks challenge. It is a fantastic walk (the bits of it that we have completed) and I look forward to going back and completing it some time. highly recommended
