A great 13th century circular keep standing on an earlier Norman mound, atop a high spur beside the River Fowey. Twice visited by the Black Prince, it finally saw action during the Civil War. Commanding fantastic views, it makes an excellent picnic spot. Child friendly and dog friendly.

This was a lovely little castle, and we really enjoyed exploring it. We went just before closing, and had the place to ourselves. It was really peaceful - with great views. Definitely a must visit - particularly if you have an English Heritage membership.

Definitely worth a visit as such an interesting castle and very dog friendly. It's worth a visit just for the views but there isn't a huge amount to see so for us more of a stop-over on the way to other places. Lovely staff and all very clean and well kept.

Small castle, good for a short visit, small picnic area, lovely grounds for a walk. We spent about an hour and a half there. It is well maintained with a little well stocked shop for gifts, reasonably priced tea/coffee or some ice cream. We also bought a glossy brochure about the castle for £3.

Restormel castle is a little way off the beaten track but as we were staying in Lostwithiel it seemed a bit of a shame not to visit. We were there about an hour before closing time which was about right for a look round. What I thought was going to be a smallish ruin is actually quite a large and... More

Interesting "climb on" Castle - a great introduction to castles for our 5 year old. Fab ice-cream from small shop/ticket office too.

Interesting but overpriced for what it is. Not sure why they charge for this as there wasn't much to see other than the view.

Had been to all the places we wanted to go whilst on holiday and saw this on the map so took a chance for a visit. It was well worth it, the castle although a ruin is very interesting to walk round and for those able to climb the steps to the top of the walls the views are excellent.... More

Interesting for a quick visit, with lovely views from the top of the walls. Would be better in the summer if you bring a picnic. However I was a bit disappointed overall

Took my son here over Easter holidays. He loved it and got his imagination running wild. Under 4's are free and less than a fiver for me. Only real compliant the information boards are weathered and some parts were missing off the boards.
