Visited here today 25/05/17 after we had been to Geever tin mine. Beautiful cliff top location and striking backdrop. Another good place to visit if you're interested in history, there is a guided tour which was very informative. Our guide Richard hails from our neck...More

National Trust property near St Just TR19 7SX. Visited on the spur of the moment and was very impressed by the guide's knowledge of the mine and the delivery of his talk which lasted about an hour and included the engine room and an insight...More

The beam engine is the star of the place, make sure its working for your visit. Maybe having done Geevor mine first spoilt our expectations for here, as that is so good compared to here. Guides were good but did feel a bit bored.

A National Trust site that provides useful insight into the importance of tin mining to the 18th and 19th cetury Cornish economy. The beam engine itself, built in nearby Hayle, was unfortunately not running during our visit. There is a good deal of information to...More

The preserved beam engine is obviously the main attraction but there are many other relics around here to explore. To understand the mining and mineral extraction process it is worth taking time to read up before your visit, it will make the buildings and equipment...More

The only mine in the whole of Cornwall that still has it's original Beam Engine operating by steam power. The history of this mine and the working conditions endured is brought to life by very informative volunteers - with first hand knowledge of the mining...More
