First visit although been to Cornwall many times . We were staying 5 mins up the road and saved this for our last day . Fantastic story and the gardens , the walks as the jungle were great . Seeing a new born calf and newly born lambs again was such enjoyable. Just everything about our visit was ideal .... More

Visited in late April when most of the rhododendrons were still in bloom and spectacular. There are plenty of secluded areas in the grounds to afford some peace and quiet even though there were many visitors Nice to see a tie in to the family history of the gardeners who had died serving in WW1, someone has done good research... A late April Saturday afternoon, overcast skies and wondering if it would be worth the effort. From the welcoming and informative chat with the young lady at the ticket office until the moment we left we were impressed. We started off with strolling past the Giant's Head and the Mud Maid - which we'd seen in pictures or on the... More

A very enjoyable day out for all the family. From rope bridge to sculptures to walled gardens to views. The day we visited was nice and sunny which helped a lot.

We arrived a day after the school holidays had ended, so Heligan was pleasantly busy, instead of crowded. This was just as well, as I could imagine little appeal for young kids. The main part of the decorative 'gardens' strongly resembles the style of National Trust stately homes: walled gardens with fruit and veg, old greenhouses, very large amounts of... More

This is a must to visit. I would suggest planning to spend a day here, rather than the few hours we had available, to justify the cost. The parking was free - quite a surprise as everywhere else we had to pay. There is so much to see and plenty of walks. Make sure you take pictures! It is an... More

Really surprised by the sheer size of the gardens. Spent 4 hrs wandering around the vast expanse that is the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Such a diverse spectrum of sights and experiences from the Barn housing new born lambs, piglets, chickens and a calf to walking across a rope bridge in the jungle garden and taking in the amazing sculptures... Visited for the day with my partner, nice place, peaceful setting great place to stroll amongst these lovely grounds. No gimmicks, decent cafe serving nice food. Also very good to take your own picnic if you are that organised. Wear some sturdy footwear as the paths are uneven.

Aside from being as you would imagine very well kept gardens ,there is a very interesting story of how they were lost in the first place and how it was basically neglected for several decades. As for the gardens , varied and immaculate with a good amount of information without being too overkill. You will need to allow a good... More
