While visiting the Warrumbungle National Park we made a detour to the observatory. It is worth the visit with a stroll up to the large telescope a must.

The observatory was closed the day we went, but the kids still loved the drive up there and the interactive centre in the building!!

I found the guided tour inside and around the many telescopes very interesting. We were able to walk through the ATT. And touch its mirror and watch it move etc. with us on the tour were several teenagers who thoroughly enjoyed the experience as well....More

Siding Spring is a fascinating place to visit. The Observatory houses the giant AAO telescope (which is free to view) and an interactive exploratory centre (for a small fee). There is also a gift shop cafe which serves pretty good coffee and panoramic views of...More

Well worth calling into while in the area. Paid entry to the hands-on exhibit area, which is smallish, but quite interesting to wander through. Would love to come back during the open day in October if we were in the area.

If you have taken the time to visit the Warrumbungles then you are close enough to visit the observatory. You will learn something new with the visit, well worth the time
