Let me begin by saying that our individual camping site was pretty comfortable, and reasonably private. However, that is due in large part to the fact that one of the two adjacent sites remained unoccupied for our visit. This is a campground with A LOT...More

Pitching the tent was impossible - there was no soft ground for staking- so the only option other than the Rocky gravel area was in weds where spiders made those rocky areas even worse.

Spent 3 days at the state park and it was wonderful. Rented one of the cabins and although they are a little old, it was well worth the money. Full kitchen and bath were great to have but we used the provided fire ring to...More

We recently spent a weekend tent camping at Gifford Pinchot and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the campground in sites 123 and 124. Both sites were right on the lake and had beautiful views. The sites were large and shady, although on a...More

We rented a cabin in Gifford Pinchot for a long weekend. The lake was gorgeous. There was plenty to do - frisbee golf (two courses!), swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, biking. The cabin (#5) had a trail down to the lake and plenty of room for...More

We have stayed at many state parks and although there were some positives, we will not be going back. We stayed in sight 103, it was very private but covered in poison ivy, you could not even go close to the woods. Because of the...More

Gifford Pinchot State Park is a nice trip to take for a day trip, kayaking, swimming, or hiking. One is able to do all of the classic camping activities there. However, I have been to better campgrounds before. The bathhouses were somewhat low-scale, and I...More

Most of the trails are loops or are interconnected so they don't really "end". Lakeside trail, especially on the Conewago side has pretty views of the lake. The trails are mostly in the woods. There are no waterfalls or... More

1 - There are no enyrance fees for any of PA's State Parks. The park is large, so where you park depends on where you want to hike. I suggest you download a map or pick one up at the outdoor kiosk at the park office... More

Hi! I'm interested in visiting this park for my anniversary. I am a PA resident but not familiar with the park. Could any one help me find the best camp site to suite our needs? I am looking for a "dreamy" place to Tent camp with our large ten person tent. This trip is just for my husband and I So I'm not really concerned about childrens activities. Here are some of the preferences I would like to use when considering a camp site; 1. We will definitely need something w/ electric & water hook up. 2. I would like to be some place a little more secluded, not completely deserted, but "peaceful" for two adults on a weekend escape from our kids. 3.I need to be within reasonable distance of a FLUSHING toilet and bathhouse with hit water. 4.I would like to be near the water . We love fishing! Also, I want to be near some place to swim. I would like to check out the waterfalls but I have no idea how far they are from camp sites And were not pro hikers or anything 5. We would like a picnic table at our site. Also we would like a decent size site that is not RIGHT next to other people or near roads. ( need quiet !) 6.I obviously don't want any place over run with poison, I understand were out doors, but the place needs to be well maintained. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!
