Really loved this place. Great visitor center with friendly rangers. A nice place to roam and explorer the grounds, visit the exhibits, and check out the old road-side tavern. The visitor center and surrounding grounds really brought history to life. Learned a lot too! Nice little gift shop with some interesting things.

Our family really enjoyed this place. We explored the well-designed museum (informative but not overwhelming), watched the overview movie (recommend, especially if you plan to visit Jumons Glen afterward as it will help you visualize the events that happened there) and took a tour of the fort. There is also a shaded picnic shelter behind the visitor center, making for... More

Very well done National Park with excellent movie overview and great interactive museum. Artifacts were superb and brought the history to life. Several school groups were taking advantage of this piece of history. Park Ranger was very knowledgeable.

The visitor center and film was very interesting. I learned a lot that I didn't know about George Washington and the French and Indian war. The short walk to the recreated fort is worth it to help visualize what it must have been like in the tiny fort and trenches. A quick stop at the Mount Washington Tavern (can either... More

Had no idea what I was going to find when we passed by the sign on US40 and devised to turn back and investigate! Once we started the self guided tour in the visitor center, we were hooked! It was like reading a good book that you just can't put down! We started with a battle (or skirmish), which led... More

A recreation on more or less the spot with a number of trails and picnic areas. The museum explains the history of the National Road well for the everyday tourist.

As of October 1, 2016, this National Park offers free admission going forward - as does the following National Parks in the the surrounding area - Friendship Hill, Flight 93 Memorial, Johnstown Flood Museum, and Allegheny Portage Railroad. The visitor center is modern and new. There is a good 20-minute film regarding the history of the fort and surrounding area.... More

Good place to learn about George Washington's first command experience in the French and Indian War. Battlefield relatively small--easy to walk around. Fort is very tiny--not what you would expect from what you see on TV. Visitor center has excellent video about battle, as well as a very interesting exhibit about the National Road (Route 40) and the opening of... More

This National Park, where the French and Indian War began, depicts Washington and the troops building and trying to defend a tiny fort. Also on site is a tavern that Washington had built later. There is a short film about the battle and the national highway in the visitors center. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The short walk to... More

After visiting as children, we returned to find a much improved attraction. The visitor's center is well done, with a great short video to start things off. There is a playground just outside the back of the building and a picnic pavilion on the short walk to the fort. The path is paved from the visitors center to the fort... More
