The New Hope & Ivyland Railroad is nestled 37 miles outside of Philadelphia in Bucks County’s premiere destination; New Hope, Pennsylvania. A Delaware river town chock-full of niche shops and resturants, a fitting locale for a day or night out with friends & family. We provide a glimpse into travel of a bygone era on historic trains traveling over tracks that were laid in 1891 by the North-East Pennsylvania Railroad.

On a very cold and snowy December 30 I took a locomotive engine cab ride on the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad’s historic 1925 Baldwin 2-8-0 Consolidation Steam Locomotive #40. The train left at 5PM, just after sunset but the snow-covered landscape was lit up...More

My mother sister and I took our three kids (5 and 1.5 years old) to what we thought would be a fun ride on the Polar Express. We were surprised that parking was $20 per car. It's not a football stadium so we thought it...More

This is a short train ride near back roads of New Hope and surrounding areas. For our large party costing hundreds of dollars, we received cold hot chocolate, what tasted like a store bought cookie and a small silver bell. Santa rushed through the kids...More

This year, 2017, was our fourth year bringing our granddaughter to this family event. It was quite different from our previous three visits to this expensive event. First complaint the ride was cut in half. Second, the banjo player played for a quarter of the...More

MimiGeri, thank you for the feedback concerning a recent experience aboard our North Pole Express train. I want to better understand why your experience was not consistent with our offering, would you be open to sharing the date and time you rode with us?

My granddaughters totally enjoyed this train ride. The visit from Santa and the singing accordion player were nice also. Helps if you have young children with you, don't think only adults would enjoy.

We went with our granddaughter on the noon Santa Express on 11/25. The experience itself was very good, but fairly expensive for what you get. The experience is basically a old-fashioned train ride with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa and Mrs. Claus...More

If your not planning on taking a train ride, don't bother. The building is off the beaten path and not worth the short walk to see. The store is small. Maybe worth a quick picture to say you've seen it, but not impressed.

There is no steam engine. The railroad is leasing equipment from the Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad. The only railroad I know that will come close to the polar express look of the train is the Strasburg Railroad.
