I only knew Warhol for his pop art but was surprised to learn at the museum that he was a very accomplished artist in many aspects. I liked the multi-floor layout of the museum and easy walking distance from downtown.
Went with our friends on Saturday afternoon, it seemed busy but never felt crowded. Got a great 50% discount with student IDs. Gift shop has a ton of fun stuff and got to make our own screen prints for free.
This was a great little gem in Pittsburgh. After starting at the top floor and making your way down don't forget to spend some time in the "craft room" in the basement. Here you can make Warhol inspired art and screen print your own t-shirt....More
Andy Warhol is a Pittsburgh GEM. We are so lucky to have this museum in PIttsburgh to see so much of his work up close and personal. There is a studio in the basement for hands on experimentation with screen printing, a theater showing his...More
I admit, I am not a big fan of much of Mr. Warhol's artwork, but it was definitely worth 90 minutes or so to learn more about him. I was impressed with his continuous efforts to grow and stretch as an artist. The museum has...More
This place has so much cool art. Not only paintings and photographs, but all sorts of multimedia artwork! It's $20, which I think is a bit pricey, but it seems to be the average cost for many Pittsburgh museums. Students are $10! You're not allowed...More
This was a museum I really did not want to miss. I parked on the street around the corner and paid through the app. That was convenient as I could buy more time while inside if I decided to stay longer. Parking on a Saturday...More
Finally had a chance to visit on a third trip to Pittsburgh. Ardent Warhol devotees and art students may enjoy the collection. The casual Warhol fan will still see some Campbell Soup cans and a Brillo box, but there are no Marilyn Monroes. It's a...More

A cutting edge art museum on the North Side of Pittsburgh. Located in a former mattress factory in the Mexican War Streets neighborhood on Pittsburgh's North Side, The Mattress Factory is a unique museum, with a permanent collection and new exhibits that are often site specific. Other pieces are just as engaging but able to be displayed in other settings. The Mattress Factory has a cafe in a charming courtyard, a wonderful gift shop and on occasion, offers performances.
