My daughter attends W & J College and was not able to come home for the holiday weekend. My mother and I opted to go to Washington, PA to visit her for the weekend. On Easter Sunday, we decided to spend the morning at the Aviary. Great choice! So many beautiful birds and exhibits to see. The feeding sessions (extra... More

A little upset with the staff. My son and his fiancé flew from Chicago with advanced arrangements to see the Aviary for a wedding venue. Upon arrival they found out that the staff lady had not written down their meeting. Needless to say, they were not happy. And no one else offered to guide them while we were there. We... More

Perfect place to spend a few hours on a regular basis. Excellent collection of birds and wonderful staff to help. Watch the Sloth feeding and as he is no longer a baby it was still a good thing to watch. Also, try the Lorikeet feeding. Great experience. Don't miss this Aviary.

I've seen numerous reviews that do not give this penguin encounter enough credit. My family went for the penguin encounter, booked in advance, and were extremely happy with our experience. Happy, the Penguin, was very calm, and photogenic. Chris, our guide, answered all of our questions and more. He was knowledgeable, and rolled with whatever we asked. You spend about... More

This was my first ever trip to an aviary. The place was very well maintained. They have birds from all over the world. They have created real time environment for the birds to survive. Parking can be limited on a busy day. May have to find parking on the road.

The National Aviary is a specialty zoo that focuses on birds from all over the world. Their collection is diverse and fascinating. The feeding events are great fun. And, of course, they have Pittsburgh Penguins. My one reservation is that some visitors are not respectful of the birds and selfishly stress the animals. Please to not be one of those... More

We all see birds every day, but until we visited the National Aviary it really did not dawn on me how many different varieties of birds there were in the world. The Aviary is divided into several rooms featuring birds from different environments like the Rainforest or the grasslands. In many of the rooms you walk through the exibit where... More

I took my teenage daughter there on a recent trip to Pittsburgh. We both loved it. There was enough variety of exhibits to entertain. I imagine young kids would like it even better, and it seemed so as we observed school groups moving through. They have a "sloth experience" listed for $150, where you get to spend time with their... We thankfully did not have to pay to get in to the aviary because of a receptacle membership. I would have been disappointed if we would have paid. We were there for a little over an hour and we saw everything and some thing twice. All of the really neat things to do you have to pay extra over the... More
