Closed in 2016. Was a great place for smaller shows. Pittsburgh is a black hole for decent concert venues. I hardly bother going to concerts in pittsburgh anymore as the remaining venues are terrible for enjoyment of music. Sorry folks but gutted out buildings make...More

Visited Altar Bar in 2013 to see Reel Big Fish. Now the venue has been sold back to a church and will become a church once again.

I saw Fear Factory here. I'd heard the sound was awful but it seemed fine to me. The place is really cool but the main floor set-up is terrible. The staircase in the middle of everything is very inconvenient. It's tough to get a view...More

First time at this venue seeing Brian Fallon and the Crows. Came early, first in line and able to be up front which was my sons dream come true. Great sound quality in a intimate setting. There is a great balcony with a railing which...More

Probably one of the best smaller venues I've been to. Just a cool set up and all the employees I encountered were very helpful! Can't wait to come to another show!!

My wife and I went there to see a concert featuring Nothing More, (if you haven't heard of them look them up, amazing band). I really liked the way they preserved the old church structure to utilize it as a concert venue. Great place to...More

Altar Bar is probably my favorite place to see bands in Pittsburgh. It is not very big, which provides a much more intimate experience. Great views of the stage from anywhere. My favorite spot is on the second floor, overlooking the stage. A few places...More

We went to the Alter Bar to see a band--The Legwarmers--we love. We are not the usual Saturday night crowd. It was fantastic! We were there in January and again in October. We love the band and the venue has an upper balcony with great...More
