Take a walk through time by exploring scenes of what it has been like to be a member of the Armed Services - see the various types of uniforms and weapons and how they evolved to protect our Armed Services and make them more efficient. The scenes also present a social history of our country, including when and how the... More

You need more time than we had to see all the history displayed here. It captures what our soldiers have done to preserve our freedom through all the wars that we have been involved in, and you will learn new and interesting facts.

My son has been studying World War 1 in High School and we have many members of my family that are Veterans so this was a no brainer since we already headed to Pittsburgh. We were running late so we only had about 30 minutes to walk through but even with that little amount of time we got a good... More

Nice museum that is right on Pitt's Campus. Very sobering when you enter , you see how many Americans died in each war we fought. Displays are glass front. The museum was originally to honor Civil War era, but has expanded to honor all military. Building is super ornate and neat to see. I could spend hours there but my... More

We traveled to Pittsburgh for a wedding at the Walled garden and the reception was at the soldiers and sailors memorial hall. What a surprise, It is an excellent venue! Instead of standing around eating finger food and drinks (they were available) we were able to look at the museam. The museam is rich with history about the fighting men... More

Soldiers and Sailors Hall is mainly an auditorium with the museum part of the building located mostly in glass-front displays in the hallways surrounding the auditorium. The building itself is a breathtaking Beaux-Arts gem that is a pleasure to look at - both inside and out. Originally designed to honor veterans of the American Civil War, displays from that era... This meeting hall is just a part of the Memorial in Oakland area of Pittsburgh. Walk the perimeter of the building inside and see displays of many eras of military history. Well worth a visit!

You might like it here but it's very old and not much to do here although it's a serious memorial to see.

Soldiers and Sailors is truly a gem on the campus of University of Pittsburgh. My husband and I along with our 11 year old son wandered in last weekend and even though it was our second visit, we enjoyed just as much as the first time. The artifacts they possess are intriguing and are displayed in small groupings so that... More
