One of my favorite places for hiking. Plenty of trails, beautiful waterfall, ample parking. Some areas are harder to find, but there is a nice general store and and an information building nearby so you're easily able to find help. Having a picnic lunch by the waterfall and hiking across Boulder Field are easily my two favorite things to do... More

After an easy walk about a half mile long we crossed the river and came upon a quaint waterfall. There was a large rock overhang and we sat there for a few hours just enjoying the quiet roar of the waterfall. Perfect for a picnic or leisurely afternoon

Absolutely best place too go camping. Boulder field is such an amazing thing too see. Much bigger than what I expected.

My husband and I visited the park October 23-25, 2015 during peak and just post-peak color with fall temperatures around 50-55. The park was surprisingly quiet and very well maintained. Our favorite was the Fireline trail with dams, waterfalls and flowing cascades (beautiful in Fall, I can only imagine what the look like in Spring!). The trail is marked as... More

I come here once a year for a camping trip with friends. Hickory Run is a great park with lots of camping options, beautiful forests, lots of deer (and you can tell from the forests- no understory), and plenty of hiking trails and sites. The boulder field is a geological phenomenon not to be missed- it is definitely worth a... More

Really the areas best state park for camping, hiking and swimming. Nice brand new warm showers and bathrooms at the lake. Fun frisbee golf course nearby with grills and picknic tables in shade all around lake area. Consession stand with food, floaties, and swim needs at beach. Nice family experience.

This is truely a beautiful place.Be sure you see the "Stone Field".It is called Boulder Field and is most impressive to see.It is the result of the "Ice Age".There are numerous camp grounds located in the park and they are usually full on weekends in the summer.I prefer the Autumn myself.

JROTC orienteering event brought us to the Daddy Allen group area. Cabins are clean and large. PWashhouses are cold water only but clean. Park is beautiful and the orienteering is great!

My wife and I hiked two trails in this park, perhaps 5 miles total. For that kind of hiking, this park fits the bill quite nicely. There are some very pretty sections, and the trails are challenging enough for a casual hiker. The trails are well traveled and maintained. Nothing about them blew me away, though. The lake and area... More
