Lots of downed trees in the area...was told the park would be closed until end of year! Do stop at Beaufort visitors center for updated information on hurricane damage...most everything else in area is open. You can drive by the park

The grounds area is beautiful. There is a small charge for climbing the lighthouse. What this grandma enjoyed were the platforms in between stairs to take a short rest. The wind was gusting too much for us to exit the top to enjoy the view. I snapped a few photos from the windows.

This is the only lighthouse in the state of SC that you can still climb. The views from the top are wonderful! The grounds feature the footprints of the light keepers quarters and smaller outbuildings. The outbuildings contain a history of this and other US lighthouses and gives you a glimpse into the past. This historical site has been well... More

The volunteer working the lighthouse, Tammy Brown, was just as spectacular as the lighthouse. Cost is $5.00 per adult to get into the park. South Carolina seniors get in for $3.50. Don't remember cost for children. To go up the lighthouse $2.00 per person. Height minimum is 42 inches. Can not bring food or drinks into lighthouse. But that's OK.... More

This lighthouse is one of the few that allows you to climb to the top. There is a small fee. The result is a view that is supurb.

It was a pleasant late September day and the sky was blue. We made it up the 175 steps and enjoyed the panoramic view and the cool breeze. Visibility was great and the view amazing!! The lighthouse volunteer was friendly and helpful!! A beautiful lighthouse!!
