My son and I recently visited Beaufort from the Upstate while he was on college fall break. The church had a living history event in the graveyard the day on which we visited. It was a great experience. The 300 year old church is a must see.

The church was built in1712 and is a must see. There are docents on hand Mon thru Fri to give you a tour and answer any questions. The interior of the church is breath taking. The grave yard has some very famous people buried there from the Civil War. Easy walk from down town Beaufort

Beautiful church that has survived 150 years with a historic graveyard that spells out the lives of those buried there. Revolutionary,British,Confederate and Union soldiers are all buried here. The Low Country style and rich but simple interior invite reflection and prayer. A docent is usually on duty.

I engaged on a private walk through the cementery, very peaceful and interesting to read the details of those who had passed on, many soldiers....

We tried the door when it started to lightly rain while we were walking around the cemetery. We are so glad it was open. The tour guide was wonderfully knowledgeable about the history of St. Helena's. She pointed out many old artifacts including the alter that was hand-carved by some of the Union Soldiers that occupied it during the Civil... More

Wonderful historical place. Great for photography buffs. The old cemetery surrounds the church. Go inside and find a docent that will give you the history of the church and interesting facts. A must see.

We opted not to take the tour due to time limitations before another tour, but overheard the excellent tour guide at the church and wished we could have stayed longer. Where we spent our time, however, was taking photos in and around this historic masterpiece. Just walking among the crypts and tombs of Revolutionary and Civil War heroes and citizens... More

While I didn't go in the church itself, I did wander the grounds reading about the folks buried there. What a snapshot of history! From colonial patriots to Confederate War generals, they are all here! I always wish I could know more about the lives of these folks whose names grace the roads, homes, and towns nearby. So peaceful.
