We so enjoyed our walking tour with Charleston Old Walled City Walking Tours. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, because he had grown up in Charleston. It was at a time when Charleston was not what it is today, and his enthusiasm about the city was contagious. He had lots of knowledge about two of our greatest interests, architecture and history,... Thank you for the awesome review! That tour was a great time, and I'm always happy to talk Cabbage Row! This past May I was selected along with others to give the Porgy and Bess Tour as part of the Spoleto Festival, our international Fine Arts Festival. George Gershwin was in Charleston in 1933 to write the opera. As a... More

At 70+ and a lifetime of travel we have rarely come across as knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. If you visit Charleston, don't miss seeing the historic district through the eyes of a sixth (or seventh?) generation Charlestonian.

Thanks for the great review! I have been studying Charleston History since I was knee high to a grasshopper and it is an ongoing pursuit. For years I was a Health Care Outreach worker and attended many presentation seminars learning strategies to instill knowledge in a general population that you had for an hour presentation and an hour only. The... More

Beware...unreliable company! My husband and I booked a Christmas Day tour. All week long we received email notice confirming our scheduled tour. We received our final email confirmation on December 24 the day before our tour. All seemed in order. Christmas morning in Charleston we saw many tour groups throughout the city. We planned our entire holiday around our afternoon... More

Let's get the facts straight. On December 19, when the tickets were purchased online, I immediately responded through the ticket portal that I would not offer a Christmas Day tour and left the reservation open so that you could have the option of rescheduling or refund. At the same time I forwarded to you through business email "The Six M's... More

Al is a friendly Southern gentleman who will take you on an interesting and educational walk through Charleston's history. He welcomes questions and seems to genuinely enjoy sharing stories about his beloved city. Our group of four friends thoroughly enjoyed Al's tour.

Thank you for the great review! Having done tours for 37 years, I encourage my guests to ask questions, it keeps it fresh for ME!! I love to canvass a group for topics of interest to help determine my route, and every tour is different.Charleston is an old city and so many original buildings are still here, not a few... More

We had a great time with Al. We went on a walking tour in a group of four. We went a little over our 2 1/2 hour which was great because Al was a wealth of information. After walking around Charleston, we wanted to know more about the history and the buildings. Al provided us specific stories as well as... More

We had a fantastic morning on this tour, very informative and interesting, would throughly recommend it to anyone wanting to get a feel of the old city. Not an ideal tour for young children but Al did a great job keeping them involved as well.

Thanks for the lovely review, I am so glad you enjoyed the time we spent together. It is true that my tour delves deep and history fans are my biggest fans, but I'll take my groups with children through graveyards with skulls and crossbones and deaths heads, and even tell a ghost story! Note too that my childrens (12 and... More

Al was a fabulous tour narrator, not only is he a native he is well versed in the history of Charleston, but we got a kick out of the humorous stories, one being about Blackbeard & his cohort. I had to stop and add them to my phone's notes so I wouldn't forget the hilarious lines, for instance, at one... More

Thanks for the great review! Yes indeed, Charleston was quite the lusty town in the old days, and pirates were the local's best friends in the earliest days, hauling Spanish ships into port and selling goods off for pennies on the dollar! They called it the "sweet trade." I love the early history and I'm glad you do too! Send... More

The concept is good, but the execution wasn't that great . . . just OK. The first issue was that it was difficult to book. We had a voucher from a daily deal site and we were not able to book online as instructed until we called the number, left a message, waited for a return call back, gave him... More
