Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...

Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

Michael did a great job. We enjoyed his knowledge of Charleston (past & present), his sense of humor and the way he conducted the tour. He pointed out several things that had us looking at/for those items during the remainder of our visit in the Holy City. It was important for us to do a walking tour of Charleston &... More

This tour was everything that I hoped it would be. I did a carriage tour of Charleston several years ago, and this visit I was looking to do something a little more "up close and personal." The tour guide, Michael, grew up in historic downtown, and his route and information exceeded my expectations. He is entertaining and very knowledgeable about... More

I have done many walking tours here in the US and in Europe. Because of the reviews, I was really looking forward to this one. I did learn quite a bit and was content at the end of the tour. My friend and I spent the rest of that day and another walking around Charleston and happened upon many other... More

Although I am sorry that anyone would find my tour disappointing, and I would gladly accept valid criticism, this review is not credible based on the example the reviewer cites about the “jostling board”. It is actually called a joggling board, and I gave her group a thorough explanation of how the term comes from two meanings of the same... More

My husband and I took this tour with Michael and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only was Michael knowledgeable, he was also animated and very entertaining. The cost of the tour is minimal for all the information you receive and places you visit. This tour enhanced our visit in lovely Charleston and I could not recommend Michael more.

Must say Michael ran a very fine trip. He is extremely knowledgeable of the area and had a backstory on all of the major points of interests of Downtown Charleston. You will not be disappointed if you take the tour. The trip cost $20 I would've easily paid $50.

Great walking tour. Micheal's was great. Seventh generation Charleston native. Best tour I have been on and a great deal for only $20 per person and 2 hours of history. Michael was knowable, funny and answered all questions and helpful. He provided 3 parking deck locations with addresses that was very valuable in finding a park in Charleston. I found... More

This is the first guided walking tour we have taken. In the past we have tried to tour places ourselves with mixed results. We would have missed many of the sites covered on this tour. Michael's tour provided an excellent overview of the old town and its history and helped us get orientated to the city. Michael was informative, energetic,... More

We just finished the most informative two hours in Charleston with Michael. He truly is the best guide around. Knowledgeable, experience and extreme polite. A pleasure to walk with. Highly recommended. There is no other that compares. Well worth the small price.

My husband and I had the pleasure of taking Michael's 2 hour walking tour around Charleston this week . The tour began promptly at 10, so get there early to check in. Michael is a native of Charleston with a long family history in the city. He was knowledgeable and willing to answer questions during the tour. We were able... More
