We loved this! Not only was the food exceptional, we had pulled pork and chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese, bbq wings, fresh pork rinds, duck fat fries, a SC BLT with pimento cheese, shrimp and grits, red rice and an oyster slider. Then for dessert a cookie cake! But honestly the best part was our tour guide Hoon Calhoun!... More

First, this is not a historical walking tour. It is all about the food in Charleston. Glenn was a fantastic guide, passionate about the Charleston food scene. We "sampled" at four different restaurants and learned about many more. Cumberland Smokehouse had fantastic smoked wings. The dry rub was fabulous. We enjoyed everything there but the wings and pork rinds really... More

I have had the pleasure of introducing multiple friends and family members to Hoon and his extraordinary tour. His love of food and charleston is very evident in this tour. Hoon's sense of humor and knowledge of charleston history makes for a memorable experience that has had me return on several occasions. Hoon's stories frequently come up when we reminisce... More

Hoon Calhoun was our guide. He is inept at reading people or social settings. The purpose of doing a culinary tour is to sample local restaurants, while being able to socialize with those around you. The socializing part was impossible, because Hoon would not stop lecturing us about mundane topics including but not limited to: a history of the confederacy,... More

This was my 26th food tour, and my first time in Charleston. Guilds was an excellent guide, particularly because of his experiences growing up in the area and his ability as a storyteller. I actually found myself wanting to hear more of his personal stories, although I know that food is the focus of the tour. It would've been nice... More

Making this one of our first stops in Charleston was a great choice. The food was phenomenal and Glenn (our guide) was able to provide some spot-on recs for the rest of our trip. If this tour is a bit light on history or architecture compared to some other tours, that is only because it is heavy on food. I... More

What a great tour for people to start their trip with! This tour not only discussed the stellar cocktails and popular bars, but they also shared the great restaurants and food that Charleston has to offer. I booked this tour for my sister's bachelorette and it was a great start to our evening. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very... More

Guilds Hollowell is simply superb. Friendly, extremely knowledgeable and interesting. If you are into learning something of the local culture (if not in Charleston, where?), he is your man. A Caucasian man who grew up one of five brothers speaking Gullah in in an all black neighborhood, his perspective is unique. He relates his experience of that life and the... More

Charley is an excellent tour guide. She provided facts about the development of the King Street and historical information about Charleston. Time at each of the 4 stops was just the right amount. We enjoyed the company of the other participants and learning about them. Food portions were served family style and plenty to eat. We had a variety of... More

The tour itself was good, the tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area and the History of Charleston which was great. On the Chef's kitchen tour we didn't actually get to go into any kitchens or anything like that. We did meet some of the chefs though. The only food served was very small bite sized samples at each... More
