Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to nearly 2,000 animals that represent more than 350 species from around the world. A visit to the Zoo will play host to an array of wild adventures from a diving expedition on a Pacific coral reef to a safari through the plains of Africa to an interactive Outback encounter with a flock of sociable lorikeets.

The Botanical Garden boasts 70-acres of unparalleled beauty and is considered one of the America's best public gardens. Dramatic and themed gardens showcase more than 4,300 species of native and exotic plants, providing a living classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.

The Garden also is the gateway to natural river views and spectacular valley overlooks. In addition, guests can view structural remains dating back to the early 1800s with South Carolina's textile industry and the Civil War.

We have been members for years now. I have been to a number of zoos across the country and for the size town of Columbia this one is great. They have a number of special events during the year including some nice Christmas lights. Some of the animals don't move around as much during the hot Columbia summers so go... More

Took the Grandchildren to the Zoo. Had a great time. The zoo grounds were very clean. All the staff were very friendly. The kids are able to feed the giraffes. I will be back.

In the big Town of Columbia, the number of great attractions for families and kids is limited, but this is one of its best treasures. It has activities for all ages and any time of the year. They even have a great ropes course inside too!

This zoo is just the right size for a few hours with children. Easy to get around, easy to see everything . A few kids attractions cost extra, but not alot more. We did the carousel and the kids did the rock climbing wall .The train just goes in a tiny circle forests than 5 minutes. Suitable for very small children.

One of my 15 year old grandson's favorite places, Riverbanks is always wonderful. Remodeling is fantastic. The sea lions exhibit is so well done. Look forward to a return trip soon.

My kids had a good time, but most of the animals were sleeping or hiding. It was a chilly day, so I think they were just keeping warm. If you go this time of year, I would wait until mid afternoon. The penguin show was really cute. Drinks are $4-5. Ice cream on a cone was over $4. You don't... More

Fantastic value for a family of four. Definitely buy your tickets online before you go and get there early. We did 6 hours there and could have stayed. Tuskersmfor kunch was a surprise value and a solid chicken sandwich.

Nice size zoo, well kept. Parking is free so don't expect much of it. Lots of exhibits, nice little aquarium.
