Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to nearly 2,000 animals that represent more than 350 species from around the world. A visit to the Zoo will play host to an array of wild adventures from a diving expedition on a Pacific coral reef to a safari through the plains of Africa to an interactive Outback encounter with a flock of sociable lorikeets.

The Botanical Garden boasts 70-acres of unparalleled beauty and is considered one of the America's best public gardens. Dramatic and themed gardens showcase more than 4,300 species of native and exotic plants, providing a living classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.

The Garden also is the gateway to natural river views and spectacular valley overlooks. In addition, guests can view structural remains dating back to the early 1800s with South Carolina's textile industry and the Civil War.

This zoo is ranked in Top 20 of US zoos for good reason. The 170-acre zoo located in Columbia, S.C., has earned recognition throughout its four decades of operation for its successful breeding programs with animals like toucans and howler monkeys. A baby gorilla is due to be born May 2017. Fun for all ages!

This is a very nice zoo. Not too small and not too big that children get tired seeing everything. The animals are in as natural seating as you can make for them. The gorilla habitat is very natural.

If you are looking for a zoo like the Bronx zoo or the San Diego zoo you may be disappointed. But if you are looking for a wonderful zoo that is well laid out with a lot of great animals this is one you don't want to miss. The employees are friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The best thing is you... More

The top tourist attraction in South Carolina because they have continually grown and modernized. Adding new exhibits and enlarging the facility. Bridge over the Saluda allows visitors to go to the Botanical Garden from the zoo, or the other way. Parking at the Botanical Garden can be easier, but further from interstate highway. Have belonged to the zoo society for... More

We had our first child in 2016 and for Christmas we "gave her" an annual pass to the zoo. I've been out here with other SAHM's and their kids, with my brother and his kids, with my husband and with my parents. In fact we have my parents an annual pass to the zoo as their retirement gift! The exhibits... More

Went on a busy spring Saturday, get there before parking is "sold out". Reasonable pricing, we saw everything in about 3 hours. They have every animal you would expect, landscaping and everything is very well kept.

Went on a school trip with my daughter's HS biology class and wound up with my oldest son and his family going too. It's a great zoo , not as much walking in general or as much between exhibits. The animals are very close and you can even interact with some. Very much enjoyed our trip.

Ive been to a ton of zoos and its usually one temper tantrum after another, but this zoo was amazing for us! First, even from the other side of the parking lot, getting into the zoo was a quick easy walk. Next, they have all the cool big exotic animals you want, BUT squashed into a compact size zoo so...
