Our guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and welcomed and encouraged questions. Thought it was interesting that each room toured represented a different period. Will return to see renovations to garden in future.

Ann took Marian and I on the tour. The old home is laid out like the plantations along the Mississippi delta. It was interesting to hear about the urban slaves vs rural slaves and understand the workings of the house and see original artifacts.

Best done on a combo ticket. Great woodwork, a few nice period furnishings. Mostly history blurbs on the political situation inthat era.

If there is only one Southern mansion you ever visit I recommend this one as a model of the urban type. The History of the Prestons will attract the history buff as well as the romantic. I recommend Mary Boykin Chestnut's Civil War diary as...More

The house has been restored with reproduction and a few original pieces. The guide's narrative was detailed. The grounds are well kept.
