I just had to see the new Salvador Dai exhibit of illustrated fairy tales. This included Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol . It was a very nice exhibit and I recommend I tto all Dali fans. The adjoining exhibit by Geter was new to me and eye opening. Some of it 3 D and the hair often included small... More

Visited the museum with friends August 2016 as part of the Arts and Draughts series. An artist exhibiting amazing aerial photos of the Charleston coast was featured. The music was good, the beer was good, and we toured the small but well put together collection. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the museum.

Very good Salvadore Dali exhibit, prints from illustrations for "Don Quixote", Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales, etc. Note: the permanent collection is closed for building renovations.

Had been to this museum on a previous visit to Columbia and enjoyed it. Nice building, good collection for a small city and located in the heart of downtown. Was attracted this time by an ad for a Dali Exhibit. Exhibit itself was very good as well as a second special exhibit by an African-American artist. However, imagine our surprise... More

The art museum in Columbia, SC, houses a good general collection of mostly European and American paintings with some Classical and Far Eastern antiquities thrown in for good measure, along with some furniture and sculpture. There are two special exhibit galleries on the first floor as well. The highlight for me was the glass sculpture that hangs in the atrium.... More

This was my second time at the museum. Enjoyed the Norman Rockwell exhibit and just viewed the costumes from the movies. This is a small museum, but they seem to have good special exhibits,Check out the beautiful glass chandelier in the entrance area.

I made my third trip in as many years to the Columbia Museum of Art last week. My main reason for going each time has been the special exhibits. The first was a Normal Rockwell exhibit, next was Georgia O'Keefe and the last was CUT- Costumes and the Cinema. Each one has been better than the last. Can't wait to... More

The museum is small, but friendly and unexpectedly nice. Special exhibits are downstairs and require the full entrance fee even on free Sunday's. The upstairs houses the permanent collections. First there are some few, but nice relics from, Egypt, Sumaria, Greece, Rome, etc. The paintings, many medieval, are high quality and well preserved. Galleries move forward in time. For the... More

One would never think that a museum this caliber would be in downtown Columbia. I've attended several exhibitions of famous artists and art movements. A very relaxing activity.
