Challenging layout

Heading south to Kiawah Island for a week of golf and family, and passing through Charleston on the way, I booked this course based on its rating as the ' #1 Public Golf Course in South Carolina'. I even called the Pro Shop to confirm that this was the right course for us. We were scheduled to play one of... More

I played this course on February 13. Rate was $57 + tax for 18 holes with a power cart. Really nice layout with many challenges. Lots of bunkers, water and marsh. It goes out to the coastal marshes on a few holes. Lots of wildlife to be seen as well. Greens were in excellent condition for the time of year.... More

Fantastic experience! We teed off at 7:40am on a beautiful low county morning. I was first impressed with the greeting we received from the staff. Very professional and prompt. I cannot say enough about the tee boxes and greens. I have never seen better this time of year. Amazing views and great golf!!! I purchased the VIP package so I... More

I found Charleston National to be challenging with incredible vistas. There are carries over marsh and waste lands with many moguls. Every hole is unique and the over seeded greens had many undulations and were in very good shape . I found myself many times just viewing the picturesque scenery and felt that the course is much more interesting than... More

We just experienced Charleston National for the first time and highly recommend it. The course is in great shape and the greens roll true. The course is tough but playable. The views of the marsh breathtaking! The only issue that I had is that the course doesn't offer coolers. If you purchase beverages, they come in plastic bags with ice.... More

I would put Charleston National within the top 3 golf courses in Charleston. It's a great layout and scenery but doesn't break the bank to play here. I think the rates are reasonable for the quality of golf you get in return.

Charleston National Golf Course is one of the best courses in the Charleston area. There are challenging holes that will test even the best golfer while not hurting the beginner.

I live in the neighborhood and know when to play this course. You don't play in the middle of a hot weekend day in the middle of the summer when people from all over come to play. You play on a weekday in the spring or fall when the temps are milder and the crowds are fewer. This is when... More

I wanted to like this course, but hole after hole it just was a pretty boring layout. The condition of the course was just OK, not as well kept as I would have hoped for.

Sunday before we left, I played golf with the father of the bride, her brother, and another good friend. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, the golf course was in good shape. I didn't play mt best; new course and challenging.
