The Boardwalk at Sands Beach is a nice walk along the water. It has an observation tower at the end that gives a panoramic views of the area. The beach there is not much, but with Hunting Island State Park closed for another few months, it is one of the only beach options

Your experience will change with the tides on this beach. There are an abundance of shells (sometimes) and we often see the dolphins here (although not this visit). You can drive out on to the beach, but be careful driving through those big puddles to get there....some of them are quite deep!~ My daughter got married on this beach and... More

Sands Beach in Port Royal is just about a daily stop for us. Whether on the golf cart, bikes or walking, this is a great place to walk, watch dolphins or just gaze at the beautiful surroundings.

Love the Sands especially since Hunting Island was decimated by Hurricane Matthew. Walked there today in 75 degree weather. Enjoyed finding sharks teeth and wishing all a Merry Christmas.

Even in October, this was a busy place; with fishermen, strollers, and dog walkers. Walk the board walk and climb the tower for a view. Plenty of parking available

I am a traveling Ob/Gyn (drcathylbagleydotcom) who visits Port Royal's Sands Beach on a regular basis in between travels. Tranquil, beautiful and off the beaten path this beach with amenities: open and covered fishing pier, boardwalk, marshtrail and observation deck begs me not to reveal it's hidden treasures to visitors! Selfishly, I'd love to oblige keeping it one of many... More

We will enjoy the boardwalk and observation deck. Talk to a lovely couple who told us all about their efforts to catch blue crab and showed us their catch so far. Stopped by the beach but did not stay long. It's very tiny but hope to go back another day to look for sharks teeth.

I come here often. It's a nice local beach. You can find sharks teeth and shells. Only swim at high tide. It clears my head, it's peaceful. You can see the dolphins and walk to the tower. Amazing view! Boat dock and walking trail! Bring water shoes and always check the ties!

I basically grew up in this area and we never swam or even went to close to the water as kids. Now I love to take my son when we're in town. It's not crowded, it's mostly locals, there's a fishing pier oh and you can see the dolphins playing and swimming.
