We found Fort Fremont to be very historically interesting. We enjoyed touring, reading the signs and taking photos. There's even access to a beach. It's near Beaufort, SC and the Marine Corps Air Station, too.

Exceptional experience visiting an 1890s fort that was built To protect Port Royal from Spanish invasion. Directly across from Hilton Head Island the guns at Ft Fremont had the capability of shooting across HHI to protect the port.

Finding this fort is definitely an adventure. The address was correct, but our GPS took us through a trailer park. The ruins are between the coast and a neighborhood, so we didn't think our GPS was right at first. Here are some tips/notes when you...More

We drove to the fort but there is a fence around it and there was no signage on if we could enter or not. Only a small door in the fence was half open. The place looks really interesting but they need to make it...More

The drive there is pretty cool. The fort is old and spooky. Neat piece of history. Very secluded location.

This is a hidden gem. It is a long ride down a tree lined road and then you come to this fort... You get to walk through the fort. What a great find.

No cost. This site is not active with guides. It's open with few signs. Suggest doing history on net before seeing it for better understanding the Fort.
